Passport / ID collection

You can collect your Citizen's Card (ID) or Passport in this Consular Section every Thursday (except holidays) between 14:00 and 16:00.

It is mandatory to bring the proof of the request.

Note: The maximum period for collecting the Citizen's Card (ID) is one year.

Medical cannabis - entry requirements

For all tourists willing to enter Portugal with medical cannabis, we inform that Infarmed (National Authority of Medicines and Health Products – a government agency accountable to the Ministry of Health of Portugal)  declares that traveling to Portugal with medicinal products that contain controlled substances, may only carry the required quantity for maximum 30 days of treatment if accompanied by medical justification (a copy of the prescriptions, or a doctor´s statement describing the medicines you usually use). Please note that the documents should be in English (or Portuguese).

National visas for residents

National visas for residents should be submitted through the VFS offices in Tel Aviv.

Portuguese government has been taking all necessary public health measures to protect the entire population as well as our visitors.

Measures in force may be reviewed in accordance to the evolution of the pandemic.

ACCESSIBILITY

 

MAINLAND Portugal

Allowed air traffic

All passengers are authorized to enter national territory, regardless of their origin or purpose of travel.

Mandatory to present:

- A valid vaccination EU Digital COVID Certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or with a complete vaccination schedule and a vaccine booster)

- Or a valid test or recovery EU Digital COVID Certificate,

- Or a valid vaccination certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or a vaccine booster) or recovery certificate issued by a third country, under reciprocal conditions

- Or a negative RT-PCR Test (or similar NAAT test) - 72h before boarding, or

- Or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen Test- 24h before boarding (according to the European Commission list)

Accepted vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency - Comirnaty (BioNTech and Pfizer), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Spikevax (Moderna), Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca), COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen (https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/human-regulatory/overview/public-health-threats/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/treatments-vaccines/covid-19-vaccines) - and Sinopharm (Vero Cell), Sinovac (Coronavac), Bharat Biotech International (Covaxin).

Vaccination certificates are accepted if they consider one of the vaccines approved in Portugal and according to the terms that you can consult in "V - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / Vaccination" at the end of this page.

Children under 12 do not need to present certificate or test.

The law that required filling in the Passenger Locator Form on all flights to Portugal has been revoked, so it is no longer necessary to present it at the time of boarding.

Domestic flights

Control measures do not apply to domestic flights.

AZORES

There are currently no restrictions for passengers traveling to the Azores on domestic flights (departing from Portugal mainland or Madeira).

Passengers on direct international flights must present, before boarding:

-  valid vaccination, test or recovery EU Digital COVID Certificate,

- or a negative RT-PCR Test - 72h before boarding,

- or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen Test - 48h before boarding (according to the European Commission list,

- or a Recovery Certificate (valid for 180 days),

- or a WHO (World Health Organization) Vaccination Certificate.

Children aged 12 and under can travel without a certificate or test.

MADEIRA

There are no restrictions on the entry of travellers at the airports, ports and marinas of Madeira.

Tests undertaken before returning to the country of origin are the responsibility of the passenger, i.e. at his/her own expense.

GENERAL RULES

 

RULES IN MAINLAND PORTUGAL

Mandatory mask:

- in public transports, taxis and similar passenger transports;

- access and visits to care and nursing homes and health facilities.

General behavior guidelines

- Social distancing;

- Frequent hand washing;

- Respiratory etiquette.

RULES IN MADEIRA

The use of a mask is mandatory for persons from the age of 6, for the access, circulation or stay in enclosed areas, and whenever the physical distancing recommended by the health authorities is impracticable.

Restaurants, bars and similar establishments, nightclubs, gyms, sports as well as cultural, social, recreational and similar activities:

- Presentation of initiated or completed vaccination scheme, or

- Recovery Certificate, or

- Rapid antigen test, valid for 7 days, paid at own expense, in the case of non-vaccinated persons.

Restrictions travel from Israel to Portugal

  • The Portuguese government announced, on the 1st of September, to restrict the entry of Israeli citizens, vaccinated or not, to Portugal because of rising of coronavirus infections. The measure is already in effect.*

 
Exceptions: Humanitarian Reasons; Essential Needs.

Only essential travels duly documented will be allowed, with the necessary corona requirements.

*According to RCM nº 114-A/ 2021, Dispatch 8652- C/2021 and Decrree-Law 54-A/2021, air, sea and land traffic from Israel to Portugal is NOT authorized.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Due to the high number of requests received daily in this Consular Section, the delivery of Criminal Record Certificates will be charged from July 16th onwards, in accordance with article 69º / Nº. 296 of 28 September 2012. This consular act will cost 41 shekels.

The delivery of the document, without need for prior scheduling, will be carried out weekly, on Fridays between 9:00 am and 1:30 pm.

Updates for residents  due to the security situation in Israel:

  • Shelters- Municipal shelters will be open and ready to absorb residents (there are 250 municipal Shelter in Tel Aviv). To find your nearest shelter :https://bit,ly/33xg1Vv;
  • The municipal call centers are avaiable for all needs and questions. in Tel Aviv, residents experiencing emotional distress or require welfare services can call the 106 Plus call center(*9106).
  • We request that residents remain calm, listen to Home Front Command instructions (https://www.idf.il/en/minisites/home-front-command/), remain at home and close to protective spaces.
  • When hering a siren or explosion, enter the protective space, sit on the floor, below window level , close to the wall, and not opposite the window.
  • Individual located outside must enter a nearby building or shelter. In open areas, lie down on the floor and protect your head with your hands.
  • Leave building entrances open to assistthose trying to enter and seek shelter.

Due to the latest decision made by the Israeli Authorities, it has been decided to reduce the services of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in Tel-Aviv until January 8th of 2021.
